Moving Meet #4 - The Advent Run challenge
Mud, head torches and Christmas stockings. Yes, that’s how we celebratedthe fourth Aspire Moving Meet! On Friday 29th November, the festivemeet, in partnership with Find a Race and Advent Running, included a 5K headtorch run and drinks at a local pub. Taking place in Richmond on a chillyLondon evening, it proved to be the perfect way to kick off the Advent Runchallenge.
So, what is the Advent Run challenge? Well, the aim is to be active onevery single day in December. This can mean going for a run or a walk, headingto the gym or a yoga class, or even just spending some time to yourself toescape the chaos of everyday life. Our meet took place in late November, butour aim was to build a positive buzz ahead of the last month of the year.
The usual format for our Moving Meets stood as per normal, too. Thismeant it was a great opportunity to invite a select member of the Aspirecommunity to come together and catch up, on the move. Our focus was on theAdvent Run challenge and gearing up for a positive and healthy end to the year, but it also made for a great opportunity to look forward to 2020.
Advent Running Founder James Pool lead the head torch run on what turnedout to be an extremely dark, wet and mud-packed Richmond Park route. But thisdidn’t stop the meet’s attendees from having a great time; the guys from Find aRace, members from our running and media community and James’ runningconnections soaked it all up, with almost no questions asked…
After the fun 5K run, we all headed back to the pub where we all metoriginally for drinks and socialising. This is also where we handed out ourChristmas-inspired goody bags, which included some great items from On, Canyonand SIS. The fire was burning, the lights were dimly lit and the atmosphere wasvery winter-perfect as we all networked and made the most of the evening.
On the night, Ledlenser were kind enough to gift us a brilliantselection of head torches for the run. It goes without saying, but we areextremely grateful for this – and everyone in attendance was, too. I’d like tosay a huge thank you to everyone who made it along on the night; hopefully wecan pick up where we left off with more Moving Meets events next year.
If you are taking part in Advent Running this year, keep up the goodwork!
