Suunto strengthens road running roster with addition of UK talent Alex Bell

Suunto is pleased to announce that British distance runner Alex Bell has joined its athlete roster through to the end of 2028, strengthening the brand’s road running team as she embarks on an ambitious new chapter of her career.
A former elite 800m runner and Tokyo 2020 Olympic finalist, Bell has made a determined transition from the track to the roads, rapidly establishing herself as one of Britain’s most exciting emerging endurance athletes.
The move follows a breakthrough period over longer distances. In 2025, Bell won the British 5km Road Running Championship in Cardiff in 15:46 and made an immediate impact over the half marathon, winning the Amsterdam Half Marathon on her debut in 70:02. She has since continued that progression into 2026.
Bell opened the year with a 30:57 personal best over 10km in Valencia before producing the performance that secured her place on the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team for the 2026 World Athletics Road Running Championships.
At the Bath Half Marathon in March, Bell delivered a commanding solo victory in 69:15 — a personal best and course record — to win the official British Athletics trial and earn automatic selection for the women's half marathon in Copenhagen. She will represent Great Britain over the distance at the championships in September.
Bell's move to road racing represents a significant evolution for an athlete whose career was built around the speed and tactical demands of the 800m, reaching the Olympic 800m final in Tokyo.
Now, with her sights firmly set on the half marathon and an eventual marathon debut, Bell will join Suunto with the aim of using the brand's technology to track her training, monitor her progression and better understand the demands of preparing for the longer distances.

The partnership will see Suunto support Bell throughout this next phase of her through to the end of 2028, from her World Championships campaign in 2026 through a possible Olympic cycle as she builds towards the marathon and explores her potential over the sport's ultimate road-running distance.
For Suunto, Bell's combination of elite track pedigree, proven racing ability and willingness to embrace a completely new discipline makes her a natural addition to its performance-focused athlete roster.
“Alex’s unique transition and journey as an elite runner is exactly the kind of bold ambition we celebrate at Suunto” said Dan Southam, Head of Regional Marketing at Suunto “To immediately gain such high quality results in competition at a National and European level shows incredible potential for the future, and the hard work, discipline and mindset involved from Alex throughout her career means we’re thrilled to support this part of her journey”.
Speaking about the partnership Bell said “I’m very proud to be partnering with Suunto for the next chapter of my running journey. From track to road, the goals are changing and I’m looking forward to having Suunto with me every step of the way on this new adventure
